Wilson Peak
San Juan Mountains, Colorado
Wilson Peak was my very first 14er. I had gotten sober about 6 months prior, and was already starting to train for EVEREST BASE CAMP. We ended up selecting Wilson Peak as my inaugural high-altitude climb, primarily because I loved the irony that it's the mountain peak featured on every can of Coors Light.
Total honesty, the punchline wasn't as spot on as it could have been, since I never really drank beer, but unfortunately there aren't any 14ers to be found on a whiskey bottle. Besides, anyone who really knew me would have just assumed I chose the snowy peak because of its resemblance to a large pile of cocaine, which in my case is a much more fitting irony.
If you don't know what a 14er is, or if you'd like to hear me try to explain "Peak Bagging "to my mother (who I thought was calling me to explain a gay sex term, which --spoiler -- to my knowledge it is not), then give THIS photo article a try.
If Peak Bagging isn't your fetish, you can also learn my thoughts about HIGH ALTITUDE HIKING in general, or even my thoughts about CRACK COCAINE, AIRPORTS, AND ALCOHOLISM (if that's more your speed).
